UPC Codes

What a UPC is and when to supply your own.

Last updated September 8, 2026

A UPC (or EAN) identifies the release as a product — the whole single, EP or album. Each release needs one.

Kalmori assigns UPCs for free

Leave the UPC field blank and Kalmori assigns one during processing.

Enter your own UPC when…

  • you already own a legitimate UPC/EAN for this exact release from a previous distributor and want to preserve its identity, or
  • your label issues its own codes.

Kalmori validates the code as a 12-digit UPC or 13-digit EAN and checks it is not already assigned to another release.

Warning:

Warning: Do not enter a random number to get past validation. An invalid or conflicting code will be caught during review and delays your release.
