Every recording needs at least one songwriter (writer/composer). Stores and collecting societies require it, and a missing writer is a common Needs Action reason.
Writers, composers and lyricists
- Enter the legal name of each person who wrote the music or lyrics.
- For instrumental tracks, enter the composer(s).
- For cover songs, enter the original writers — not yourself.
- Add publishers where known.
Producers
Enter each producer in the producer/contributor field. If you built the track on a purchased or leased beat, the beat producer is still a producer and (usually) a writer — check your licence and see the AI & rights articles for beat licences.
Important:
Important: Do not enter "Unknown" or band names as writers. Platforms may reject the delivery.
