Distribution masters must be stereo: the file must contain two channels — Left and Right.
What this means
- A stereo file has separate left and right channels, even if they carry similar content.
- A mono file has a single channel. Some platforms will not accept it, and Kalmori may return the release with a Needs Action request.
Converting a mono recording
If your source is mono, create a stereo file in your DAW by placing the mono track in a stereo session and exporting as stereo. Both channels will carry the same signal.
Important:
Important: Converting mono to stereo does not improve the recording. It only satisfies the two-channel requirement. Quality problems such as noise, distortion or a narrow mix are not fixed by adding a channel.
